While we had a number of apologies, there was still an excellent turnout for Pania's meeting on Thursday 6th October under the capable Chairmanship of Helen. Two interesting presentations and a action-packed Table Topics session filled the programme.
Helen welcomed everyone and Patrick read the Mission Statement to getb things underway and then followed a speech by Darryl, introduced by Noel. Noel told us that Darryl's assignment was from the Story Telling Manual, "Let's get Personal" and was titled "Saturday Afternoon Antics". Darryl told us about last Saturday and with visitors wandering over Te Mata Peak, only to return to their car and find it and two others had there driver's windows smashed. Not very pleasant, particularly with overseas visitors in tow! Darryl told the story extremely well and ended up with a message for both the Police and also anyone leaving valuables in their car.. Well done Darryl.
Noel gave Darryl suitable commendations and was also able to suggest that he utilise the opportunity for dialogue , which was one of the objectives of this assignment, but he really enjoyed the speech.
Next up, David introduced Anna, she was to do a Brainstorming assignment from the one of the Advanced Manuals and utilised the opportunity in her role as V/P Public Relations for the club, to find out what members would like to see on the Club's facebook page , which she is developing.
A commendable cause and a useful sessions with several good ideas coming forward, while time was against Anna she handled the session well.
David gave her due credit for the session and suggested that next time she arrange a scribe prior to the session, but that the session was user friendly and worthwhile.
Graeme presented Table Topics when the participants were to consider themseleves 'one of the best in the world' in the topic given to them which revolved around sport. Jen was a champion shotputter, and what lovely gestures we got together with some name dropping!. Patrick a polevaulter of some renown , apparently it's all in the pole!. Stephanie a hammer thrower (no not a carpenter gone wild) and she learnt everything from the shotputter and the polevaulter and never goes to the gym!
Linda, swims Cook Straight regularly and the dolphins make her go faster, she is now aiming at the English Channel.
Next up Laurel, had a practice run for her Division Table Topics final on Sunday answering "What would she do if she was Prime Minister" Education for the youth about what is right and wrong was the strong point. "VOTE LAUREL" at the next elections.
Jen gave a quick and efficient evaluation of Table Topics and praised the amount of gestures used while Craig summed the meeting up as General Evaluator assisted by our ":Guest" Timekeeper, Area Director, Ian.
Another excellent Pania meeting well controlled by Helen, who added some short and interesting comments between items to keep the programme flowing, well done.
We do it all again next week meanwhile our best wishes for a 'cushy topic' go with Laurel to Rotorua on Sunday.
