"MEET ART DECO @ PANIA"

Napier's famous Art Deco week, what a great theme this was for our February 25th meeting of Pania Toastmasters, hosted by Carol who had the agenda all styled as if it was straight from the 1930'3, bravo!

This particular meeting seemed to be all about Linda as she enthusiastically read our Mission Statement and then gave an excellent speech inspiring us all to venture off to faraway lands and teach English to millions, who would like to be fluent in a second language. Linda gave very good examples of what we would learn about our own language while we were teaching it. Linda was also asked to answer one of the three Table Topic questions and this she also did with a colourful one minute presentation about vintage cars.

Darryl introduced and evaluated Linda's 8-10 minute speech and pointed out that this was Lind's 10th  and final speech in her first Manual, the Competent Communicator Manual. Congratulations Linda on being truly a Competent Communicator!
Darryl's evaluation was in a most professional CRC manner (Commend-Recommend-Commend) and he also used the third person style (well done Darryl-Ed) Next year's evaluation contest winner in the making! Congratulations also to Darryl on completing a Competent Leader Award.

Barbara introduced and evaluated our second speaker, David. Barbara always seems to hear everything that is said in a speech thus enabling her to give great examples of commendations and recommendations. This is exactly what she did for David's speech, "Street Talk". This speech was all about ten amusing rules for walking on a foot path. Sadly , due to timing, we didn't get to hear all of the ten ways. (Hopefully to walk on the left was one of them-Ed)

Wendy led the Table Topics session with cleverly themed Art Deco questions. Linda spoke about Vintage Cars, Ian spoke about his panama hat and red Asian imported bow tie, while Barbara completed the session with an excellent description of a 1930'3 hotel dinner, the entire four courses.
Wendy rounded the session off most succinctly and Jen evaluated the session in her usual humorous manner.

Helen led the General Evaluation, summarising the meeting well and Graeme in his role as Timekeeper read out the participant's speaking times, while Carol closed off the meeting in her friendly manner.

Best Speaker: Linda
Best Evaluator; Darryl
Best Table Topic; Barbara.

We do it all again on Thursday 3rd March, see you there!
