Thursday 17th March 2016 St Patrick’s Day:
This St Patrick’s Day themed meeting was led by Mike. It was
well organised and was punctuated with humour. Much to the amusement of two
members who wore green in honour of the day, they were both referred to as
Leprechauns.
We had our two newest members Ann (a transferred member from another Club) and Patrick join us, and it is great to have that new-blood flowing through the Club. 12 members were also present.
Darryl presented a presentation from the Story Telling Manual "A Folk Tale"he used a modern fable called, “Tale of the Sea
Wave” which had the most amazing word pictures throughout it. The fable was
about the life of a wave and how a little wave way out at sea was told about
this thing called the shore and once a wave met the shore it
disappeared.
When Graeme evaluated Darryl he spoke about how Darryl
presented the speech rather than repeating the speech, exactly how an evaluation
should be done. Graeme also reaffirmed the speech objectives and discussed
whether Darryl had actually met these objectives which he considered that he had done.
Craig read two bards, the first was called, “The Lawyer & The Devil" and the second, “The Old Crow Teaches the Young Crow”. Both these
bards were most enjoyable. These Bard readings were taken from Irish Folk Tales so dovetailed nicely with the St Patrick's Day theme.
Barbara conducted Table Topics and used St Patrick’s Day as
her theme. Jane, Patrick, Anna, David, Graeme and Darryl all spoke to the
questions Barbara put to them.
Noel evaluated these Table Topics and commented on Barbara’s
presentation. All very positive.
Helen was General Evaluator and David was Time
Keeper.
