This was the title given by Helen for her "Research your topic" speech today
& what a speech it was!
It came from a book by Dr Sandra Cabot and was all about eating the right
food, more specifically, raw
juices. Excellent information that was told with enthusiasm. Helen has lost
weight already!
Craig introduced Helen spelling out the speech objectives as well as something
of personal interest. His evaluation was thorough highlighting aspects such as
choice of topic & relevance to audience. Craig also provided suggestions for
improvement. A very good evaluation.
Great to have two guests today. Brett was back for a second time &
Gavin (another past member) was also in attendance.
Barbara presented an educational session on impromptu speaking drawing on
her wealth of experience. Involving the audience was a very nice touch. I liked
how Barbara utilises 'special memories' to add substance to table topics.
Example "Happy time that passes is never really gone if it leaves a special
memory for looking back upon". Thank you Barbara!
Today's table topics from Carol were quite special. Speakers were asked to
specify what the subject was & expand on it. Here are the three
topics:
(1) I beat down everyone I see & make them very hot. I am here for most
of the year but some days I hide behind ...... Answer - The SUN
(2) I love to sway in the wind & I am known to expose myself once a
year where I bear all .......
Answer - a TREE
(3) I like to be in control & I am very good at controlling others. I
change regularly & people like to watch me change - in fact they wait for me to change before they move
on ......... Answer - a
TRAFFIC LIGHT
The three speakers - Brett, Craig, Mike -
excelled, each one trying to outdo the other. Lots of fun, most exuberant,
superb word pictures.
Barbara provided very good feedback to those
taking part and Graeme our General Evaluator summed the meeting up succinctly and briefly due to time running out .
Thank you to David (our chairman) for
providing us with such an enjoyable meeting.
Best speaker - Helen
Best evaluator - Craig
Best table topic - Brett
See you next week!
