This was the title that Laurence chose with his Project Two Speech from the "Public Relations Manual" at Thursday's meeting of Pania Toastmasters presided over by the Toastmaster of the day Graeme.
Laurence represented the Health & Disability Commission in a 'radio talk show'. He was ably assisted by Ian in his capacity as Talk Show Host. The session was an excellent example on how to present and answer questions in a Radio type environment.Congratulations to both participants. Ian represented a lighter side to the interview while Laurence took a relatively serious approach. It came across extremely well.
Barbara introduced and evaluated Laurence to her usual high standard, praise included achieving the speech objectives and the clear and concise presentation. Recommendations were to simplify answers and ensure timing lights are easy to read.
Wendy gave an amusing 'look at life' bard reading. It was all in rhyme being quite a challenge and handled particularly well. Bill and Val (the couple included in the reading) will be remembered for quite sometime. An excellent presentation.
Linda was up next with Table Topics which she linked to 'Community Events'. Noel gave a well thought out answer by explaining how he raises money!. Wendy clarified 'youth are our future' by suggesting time with 'cubs/guides' etc and what they offer. Ian spoke on medical breakthroughs in response to Linda's question re an aging population.Barbara divulged what she did to help someone who didn't have food.'Sport for Children' was David's question, he grabbed everyone's attention by suggesting they should go out in the country with a gun!! yes he did explain himself!
Cheryl evaluated Table Topics and provided feedback for everyone. Good to note how helpful the comments were.
Graeme, Toastmaster today ,provided a clear and easy to follow programme as well as starting and finishing on time.
General Evaluator , Darryl, provided positive comment to all those taking part and showed very good perception on what he sees and hears. We always learn from his contributions.
Timekeeper, Carol, not only gave a clear report but also commenced the meeting by reading the Mission Statement of a Toastmaster's Club.
We had a Grammarian today and that was David who provided a 'word of the day' "recover" which turned out to be a popular choice and David gave a good overview that showed that he had been listening.
A most enjoyable meeting, lots of fun and something for everyone. We miss you Mike!hope all is going well still.
