'PERSONALITY plus PASSING OF A SOCIAL SOCIETY"

"Personality plus passing of a social society"
These were the titles of the two speeches at today's meeting of Pania Toastmasters. Linda chose "Personality Plus" which was project 8 relating to visual aids and what a thought provoking speech it was - read more.
Linda showed us a chart with words such as extrovert - introvert, intuitive - sensory etc, which gave her the opportunity to indicate exactly where her personality fitted in. This aspect was well explained and so interesting. Linda spoke of the Fascination Quiz (in our latest Toastmaster Magazine) and handed out the Myers Briggs Personality Test which gave various personality styles. While all this may sound complicated Linda's clever use of visuals made everything easy to understand. Well done!
Helen's evaluation praised Linda on achieving the speech objectives, giving her positive reinforcement with regard to the standard she sets herself.
Russell chose a Then and Now approach to his speech titled "Passing of a social society". Aspects such as Anzac day, the Ranfurly shield and computers were the standout features of his presentation. Russell's sincerity showed through very strongly. This speech fitted in very nicely to project 2 from the Speaking to Inform manual.
Ian provided good balance when evaluating Russell giving both praise and suggestions for improvement. Asking Russell to support the points made showed good perception.
Darryl did an excellent job as chairman. His programme was impeccable. The meeting also finished almost on time.
Our Grammarian of the day Barbara excelled. Not only did she choose a challenging word "emolument" but also highlighted that most of us do not enunciate all that well. Appreciate your efforts. Well done!
Table Topics were conducted by Jane. A very good session.
Police chase - Jen told us of a speeding incident - twice on the same day! True story.
Police need more control - Barbara gave a very positive answer highlighting a very real problem.
Increase taxation - Ian responded with good facts and examples.
More road blocks - Alyce compared Australia /New Zealand. Good answer.
Railways reinstated - Darryl loves trains and this showed.
Graeme (general evaluator) provided feedback to all those taking part.
Great meeting - come along sometime?
