What a wonderful way to start October , with a warm , inspiring
Toastmaster's meeting .
Helen was our Toastmaster for the day , she welcomed us all and explained
the changes in the programme.
Daryl presented Table Topics , inspired by a Dale Carnegie course he had
been on , “How to win friends and influence people”.
Jane ,Craig,Russell and Ian , were the speakers.
David presented part one of an educational on judging at a speech
contest, it was a well thought out and presented educational , which offered
tips for even the most experienced of Toastmasters.
Part one of the presentation was cleverly followed by a speech from Craig ,
which we were asked to judge. Craig's speech ,”In pursuit of adventure “, saw a
younger Craig hovering from a climbing wall , only being held in place by a slim
, short , young woman !
During part two of the educational ,David went on to assist us in
marking up our sheets. It was a beneficial session , enjoyed by all .
Carol evaluated the table topics , in a light hearted way , she gave
commendations to all and a general recommendation .
Graeme was temporarily released from his seat, where he had been toiling
away covering four roles, for long enough to present his evaluation of Craig .
As always a well thought out evaluation and suggestions for Craig . Graeme has a
special way of offering recommendations, in that he does not enumerate them , is
to the point and closes with a compliment , leaving a good feeling in the room ,
as he rushed back to his seat to prepare the timekeepers report .
The meeting concluded with the presenting of the award for best speaker to
David, best evaluator to Graeme and best table topic to Craig .
It was a great meeting , thanks to all the organisers. Hopefully someone
checked if Graeme got out in one piece........... or is he still at the meeting
trying to finish his jobs ?
Thanks to Jen for this report, written after she did a wonderful job of reviewing the meeting as General Evaluator.
shucks folks, all modesty aside, I think Craig's speech was one of the best from him I've watched/listened over many years. It was lively, animated and relaxed. Well done Craig.
ReplyDeleteAnd best wishes to Mike for a successful and safe operation. We're thinking of you.
