"SINGLE MALT WHISKEY"

Great Team Work may well have been the theme for the Pania Club's,Thursday 9th July meeting, as we all came in from a very cold day to a warm room and  a very warm welcome. Thanks you Ian & Graeme, as usual they looked after us. Craig welcomed us all further in his capacity of Toastmaster of the meeting.

Sixties music flowed as Barbara presented Table Topics. A very funny session was enjoyed by all as each speaker selected a small folded piece of paper from a musical card Barbara had made. As the speaker unfolded the paper they found the title of a sixty's song which they were then required to speak spontaneously about for 1.5 minutes.
Helen "Blue Suede Shoes": Carol, "The Gambler": David "I want to Break Free"; Darryl, "Lipstick on your Collar"; and Craig "Those were The Days".Evaluator Mike suggested that the first three speakers might like to stick to the topic! while Darryl and Craig were commended for staying with the topic and Craig was further commended along with Wendy, "These Boots Were Made for Walking" as they both broke into song!(well they tried anyway-Ed) Wendy even showed off her boots to prove her point!

And YES Craig won the trophy for the best Table Topic Speaker!

An intriguing speech from Noel aptly named "Single" who began very dryly mentioning a  variety of single things and then surprisingly announced "single malt whiskey". Noel had been to a whiskey tasting session in Scotland and relayed his findings to us in a very intriguing manner. He took us through the history,the distilling and the development of flavours and how each country was so subtly different. Well done Noel, great topic and information, especially about the fact that whiskey originated in Iran or Mesopotamia as the area was known back then. Then we were all thinking it was Scotland!
Craih held a group evaluation where commendations flowed freely and recommendations couldn't have filled a shot glass!

The General Evaluation was put together very succinctly by Wendy, who also reinforced what a fun and informative meeting it had been. Graeme , the meeting Timekeeper, gave the speaking times and emphasised how the Table Topic time of 1.5 minutes each had not been utilised. Cheers Graeme.

Craig announced the award winners;
Best Speaker; Noel
Best Evaluator; Wendy
Best Table Topics; Craig (chosen by Mike.)

50 minutes of Great Team Work,thanks everyone!

Thanks to Helen for this report.
