This weeks Pania meeting, whilst low in numbers was warm, fun and informative.
Helen, our Toastmaster welcomed us all warmly to the meeting. Then Graeme introduced our first speaker David. It was revealed that Davis had endured a horrendous week, but like all good Toastmasters he turned his week of calamities into a good speech.
David's week started with him thinking he was going to 'drink himself silly' in Turikina on a 'goat hunting weekend' and ended with a car and a computer that didn't function in the way they ought.(did you get to the drinking session David? I don't think you ever told us!)
It was good to have Laurence back in the fold, he ably presented Table Topics, which asked the question 'Is it Ice Age or Global Warming?'. A fabulous topic Laurence and great to have you back.
A variety of excellent answers were given, and for those who were not there, we ascertained that coastal properties will suffer a big freeze, that the whole thing is a conspiracy theory from which people make money, and that the general solution to all the global warming woes is to house your car in a garage.
Graeme's evaluation of David' speech, was comprehensive and helpful, he used the Commend, Recommend, Commend method of evaluating and ascertained that David had indeed met all the objectives of this speech, which was taken from the Competent Communicator Manual speech Number Two, 'Organise your Speech'.
Helen presented an excellent Bard reading. She read from a book catted 'Born on The Continent'.Helen read warmly a chapter of full descriptive language, where our writers family were roasting mice! In a few pages we were taken to another place, where the sun was hot, the earth dry and families carried out rituals handed down from generation to generation. With a bit of Black Magic thrown in for good measure.
Jen was General Evaluator and she rounded off our 50 minutes with Wendy, who gave the time keeper's report. Carol presented the Table Topics evaluations and presentation of the awards.
Another great meeting concluded, and we all left better for it.
