On a beautiful warm Spring Thursday Carol welcomed us to our
meeting with warmth and a spring in her step . Our program was laid out to
celebrate the season, and appreciated by all .Awesome job Carol .Our guest Hannah, was introduced and said she will return!
As time allowed Carol wove little tit bits in about the
season , and her natural warm smile was not lost on us .
Graeme had way too much spring in his step and decided that
he would toot horns and call the meeting to order at 12.04 pm .Carol was not
ruffled by this and carried on with her call to order at 12.05 pm.
Once the heart of the meeting was underway , Craig
introduced Leigh, giving her words of encouragement and preparing the audience
to enjoy her speech. From the Innovative Planning Pathway , titled “Love your
soil “
Leigh offered a very well-crafted speech and despite her
apparent nerves she certainly taught us all the reason why we should love our
soil . In his evaluation Craig commended Leigh for her speech , offered a few
small recommendations and then commended her again for ability to make eye
contact . Craig was kind and encouraging and gave Leigh the confidence to start
thinking about her next speech I am sure !
Graeme introduced Laurel , warmly and had the audience in his
hand as he gave us some insight into the depth to which this was speech was to
take us . “How lucky am I “? Was the title and the speech was from the Dynamic
Leadership Pathway . I would turn that question on its head and ask “How lucky
are we “? To have someone like Laurel who leads by example , teaching is to give
off something of ourselves, to peel back the layers and let a little of
yourself out .
In his touching evaluation Graeme commended Laurel for her
speech , struggled to find a recommendation but suggested the big screen behind
her could have been rolled away and the commended her for all else
.
Lou presented her table topics where she offered each speaker
two emotive words and the speaker had to TRY to put them together
.
Tamara gave a version of happiness , no prizes for guessing
Theo is her happiness!
Anna was asked to offer a speech on calm and confused , and
succeeded in confusing us all, by going off about Ham and Cheese and concluded
by inviting us all to whinny like a horse
Michael talked about Triumphs , Toastmasters being his topic
…..great choice .
Sahar finds her whole life to be one of excitement , she was
bubbly in presenting her table topic , which did everything to convince us
!
Anna was table topics evaluator , and gave good evaluations
of each table topic ,
Patrick was our time keeper ,and did a great job , with a
nice little touch of asking people if they wanted their table topic times, in
the interest of saving precious moments of our 55 minutes together
.
General evaluator Jen thanked Carol for a great job ( gave a
nod to the fact that we simply need to introduce the person who is introducing a
speech ), not give away any more , and suggested that table Topics evaluations
should be light , fast and fun . Just an opinion folks .
Thanks for being there , always nice to see the meeting
brimming with people .Special thanks to Toastmaster Carol .
Best speech: Leigh
Best Table Topic: Michael
Best evaluator : Graeme
A pot luck lunch followed but this scribe was unable to
attend so can only assume it was , as always a good time had by all
.
