On Friday 16th March, The Area Contest finals were held in Hastings. The five Clubs in the Area winners of their respective Club finals, compete for the honour of representing this Area D2 at the next level of Competition, Division.
Pania Club had great success with Mike winning the International Speech Contest and Marc winning the Evaluation Contest, in which the "Test" speech was given by another Pania member, Laurel.
The overall depth of the contestants was high and Mike & Marc should be well pleased with their efforts in being selected as the Best Speaker & Evaluator on the night. Mike's rendition of "Bulldarie The Almighty" (the title of his speech) was tremendous and it had at excellent message to round of his story. Comes back to the old adage about contest speeches "tell a story-make a point!"
Marc gave a thorough and helpful evaluation of the Test Speech, although I believe that he has done better, and I am sure he will be in 'top form' when the Division finals are held in Taupo on 14th April.
Why don't members form a car-pool or two and go through to support Mike and Marc, it is always a great days entertainment and the last time we will be attending a Division D Conference as next year we go south to Palmerston North and Division M!!
