"REFLECTING ON LIFE AS A WORKING HOLIDAY!"

Pania Toastmasters got underway for 2018 today with an 'Impromptu MeetImping' arranged and chaired by Craig.
Members were given a task as they entered the room and all achieved their respective roles with aplomb. This was a great way to get the year underway and was enjoyed by a good turnout of members and a guest, Lou.

Table Topics were first on the agenda and Graeme was the Topic Master with some great topics centered around Christmas and the holidays.Laurel, Noel, Sandy,Darryl, Helen and Anna handled the topics well and showed they had lost none of their speaking skills over the break!

Carol gave a very full and comprehensive evaluation of the session and complimented all the speakers on their performance.

The two 'prepared speeches' were today "impromptu" and Laurel was first with a speech entitled "Reflections". Laurel, a very experienced Toastmaster gave a very interesting 3-5 minute speech on what perhaps she could have done better in life and had us all thinking about what we do and the possible outcomes. Excellent stuff for a 'impromptu speech'!
Darryl evaluated Laurel's  presentation and had many compliments for her but found it difficult to come up with recommendations (perhaps "you should have shoe laces in your shoes") demonstrated the quality of  Laurel's speech!

Mike was next up with an 'impromptu speech' and he entitled his "Life is a Working Holiday". Mike informed us about laying a large area of his property in pavers just prior to Christmas. He lives on the side of a hill and I can appreciate the amount of work required just getting anything on to the property, let alone doing something with it! Mike spoke with his usual enthusiasm and wit and it must have been hard work in the heat as he lost 4kgs!!
Jen evaluated Mike's presentation and again found plenty to praise but also had a recommendation or two. I think the timekeeper may have been having a bit of "an off day here" a the lights seem to be going haywire, hence Mike went overtime and off on a tangent!

Anna gave a very competent General Evaluation assisted by the Timekeeper Jane and the meeting concluded with a comment from our guest, who is keen to return!

Next week we resume 'normal service' with the Toastmaster Noel. See you all there!!
