"SHAKE, RATTLE & SNAP- OUCH THAT HURTS!!"

Our penultimate meeting of the year today Thursday 7th December and what a beauty it was, well conducted by Mother Christmas herself, Carol, resplendent in hat, backed by music and full of the joys of this time of the year!!

A good turnout of members on another hot Napier day, and one guest, Tony, who Mike brought along to see what we do. The two speeches were both of excellent quality and educational.
The first prepared speech was presented by Linda, introduced by Jen. "Ouch it Hurts" was the intriguing   title and it was(you guessed it!) all about pain, we all experience it and this speech by Linda (a psychologist) was most enlightening in what she could cover in 7 minutes, with a enthusiastic question time following, which really demonstrated the effect that Linda's presentation had on us. Certainly nailed all the objectives and entertained and educated us as well!!
Jen's evaluation was full of worthwhile praise for Linda and her suggestion for improvement was that the speech should have been longer!! To shay!!This was Linda's final speech towards achieving her Advanced Communicator- Bronze award and really well deserved. Congratulations Linda!!!

Our second speech was also well worthwhile, Laurel introduced Anna who was completing an assignment from the Advanced Manual "The Entertaining Speaker". Entitled "Shake, Rattle & Snap" this referred to a personal life experience by Anna with a family member and how she has found a way to overcome the trauma of dealing with certain situations through something she picked up from Ted Talks (Victor Ahipee is the reference) which calms the situation down for both parties and allows a good level of serenity to prevail. A well presented speech, that utilised a video portion and was delivered with Anna's usual flair and style.
Laurel gave an excellent evaluation to Anna, covering the three objectives Anna was to achieve in this speech and having a suggestion for improvement for each area.

Table Topics were presented by Graeme and Mike had to get to Hastings on a Pennyfathing(Health & Safety got in the way!), Carol had $50 off her first home (what a bargin??) and David had a voucher to fly to Hastings from Napier but the plane did not land at the Hastings Library!!(the only Library in Hawkes Bay according to the David!).
Patrick had an excellent, lively and animated evaluation of the Table Topic speakers, with a suggestion for improvement for each of them, well done Patrick.

Craig summed up the meeting as General Evaluator,  assisted by a pained looking Darryl as Timekeeper and we finished on time.
Best Speaker; Linda
Best Evaluator; Laurel
Best Table Topic; Carol.
DON'T FORGET NEXT WEEK IS OUR LAST MEETING FOR THE YEAR AND WE WILL HAVE SOME GOODIES TO GIVE TO THE HB TODAY XMAS APPEAL AND SOME MORE GOODIES TO SAMPLE!!!  goodie, goodie!!!  BE THERE!
