"How do you think before you paint?", this was the intriguing topic of our 'Test' speaker's speech for Pania's Evaluation Contest today. The speech was presented by Fiona, from Napier Toastmasters Club, and proved to be an excellent speech for our Evaluators to discuss and dissect.
Eight members took up the challenge of the Contest (which stretched our meeting time a little) and it was excellent to see so many give it a go. I am sure that the newer member, Stephanie, who competed would have a learnt a great deal from the experience and that Sandy in the audience would also have benefited greatly from the occasion. For her first evaluation Stephanie performed extremely well(although not placed) and I can see that she is going to be a great asset to the Club.
Fiona's speech was to convince us that there are many things to consider when thinking about painting, it is just not a case of buying any old paint a slapping it on! A very interesting and educational presentation as most of the evaluators commented.
Those that took part were, Mike, Russell, Darryl, Anna, Jane, Barbara, Stephanie and Graeme in that order and the two Judges Ian (from Napier Club) and Helen had to choose a winner and that happened to be (for the first time on the Evaluation Contest Trophy) Mike. Second place went to Barbara and Graeme was placed third. Congratulations to all those that entered and to Fiona for her speech, without which we would not have had a contest.
Many thanks also to Ian, Helen,Laurel (Timekeeper) and Ian (Sgt-at-arms) for their assistance to Craig as the Contest Chair.
Mike now had to cool his heals until March when he will represent the Club at the Area Contest.
Next week is our last meeting of the year, so do come along a bring your gift (up to $5) to speak about and then we lump them all together and Graeme & Ian take them down to the HB Today for their Xmas Tree Appeal.
After the Table Topics we have some lovely refreshments and time for a chat.
SEE YOU ALL THERE!!
