The Meeting commenced on time and was competently conducted by Craig who presented us with a very well prepared Agenda, with the names of
the participants in bold type.
We welcomed three guests,(Liam, Helen's grandson, Marc, a Toastmaster from Christchurch who has just moved to the 'Bay' and Anne (for about the 3rd time) and recorded three absentees.
The meeting room was set up to welcome we, the members. The Sergeant at
Arms, Ian , was unfortunately absent due to illness, but our room was
very ably set up by Graeme our Vice President Education Officer, and
David. The preparation of our meeting room involves the Sergeant at Arms
and the Vice President Education Officer being present approximately half an
hour before the meeting commences. They are always there to greet us and make
us all feel welcome. It involves having the Toastmasters external door sign
positioned, the erecting of the banner, chart and the arrangement of the
chairs, along with the name tags on the desk near the door for our members on
arrival. All this makes us feel very welcome.
All this has to be attended to again after our meeting.
Linda presented Table Topics first up and requested speakers to speak about/demonstrate different emotions. Emma was 'estatic' with her topic,Noel 'outraged',Marc 'mortified', Anne 'grateful' and Liam 'shocked' (so much so that he was awarded the Best Table Topics Award!).Later as we had a little time David was 'angry' and Barbara 'in love' so almost everyone in the room spoke.
Carol's introduction of Patrick's speech (Bidcom & Blockchain) was warm and
welcoming, and she did not " steal his thunder", nor did she speak too long.
Sometimes, some introducers speak almost as long as the speech maker! This was
not the case today with Carol or any other introducer. Carol's evaluation of
Patrick was precise and to the point with Carol not exceeding her allocated
time. Well done Carol.
Anna's introduction of Darryl's speech (A toast) was also welcoming and
warm, with Anna stating the Objectives from his manual for his speech. Anna
gave us a warm and enthusiastic evaluation of Darryl's speech. Well done
Anna.
Evaluation of Table Topics by Jen. Jen gave us a humorous evaluation of the
speakers, and it was helpful for the participants, for which she received the
Best Evaluator Award.
Wendy read the Mission Statement in a clear and audible voice.
Helen , our President, delivered the Business Session with good diction
and audibility and Craig gave a brief Convention Report from Rotorua..
The Best Toastmasters Speech Award was given to Patrick.
The Best Evaluator's Report Award was given to Jen .
The Meeting was very ably conducted by the Toastmaster, Craig ,
which was enjoyed by all, and closed on time.
