"50 SLICK MINUTES"

50 Slick Minutes
Humorous speeches and Committee Elections led to a very ‘slick’ meeting, well that’s how Carol, our outgoing secretary / incoming treasurer described our 50 minute Pania Toastmasters meeting.

Noel chaired the meeting in a professional no nonsense manner as there was a very full agenda.
There were two very amusing speeches. The first speech was from Emma, who transformed herself into Amy the family’s beautiful tortoise shell cat. Amy then told us all about her life living with Emma and Darryl. This was so funny and a great recommendation from our very vocal evaluator, Mike, was to enter this speech into the ‘humorous speech contest’. Amazing as this was Emma’s second speech from her manual.

The next speech was from Russell and was from an educational perspective based on the ‘Fear of Speaking’ from the Better Speaker Series.  Russell’s speech was also full of humour plus it had some great pearls of wisdom dotted throughout it. For example, he told us to “vividly mentally research something and the central nervous system and brain will believe it happened”.
Table Topics was run by Barbara in her usual professional manner and she invited six members up to speak about various newspaper articles. All very clever one minute impromptu speeches evaluated in an equally clever manner by Graeme.

Awards of the day; Best speaker, Emma. Best evaluator, Graeme. Best Table Topics, Linda.
General Business took 4 minutes 50 seconds and covered the next meeting roles, sympathy card to Samuel’s family and elections for the incoming committee. Thanks to Laurel for supplying President Helen with the correct wording to run the elections and thanks to those who had previously agreed to stand for the new committee as this made Helen’s job very easy. Wonderful to have two new members join the committee. Craig will be entering the new committee names on the international web site in the next few days and this will give us our first point towards being a Distinguished Club or higher this next year.

Brilliant team work from very successful members!!
