Silver was the colour theme for
the program to recognise that one of our members, Noel, has been a Toastmaster
for 25 years.
In accepting his 25 year plaque Noel reminisced on his membership
and how it had given him confidence for presentations. He enjoyed seeing the
progress new members made. The meeting then recessed for a light lunch not a common practise but a special one to recognise Noel's 25 years!
But wait there was more. Prior
to this two new members gave their Ice Breaker speeches. Anna introduced us to
her business, the Confidence Company, and told us in a speech entitled “Full
Circle” the experiences which had brought her back to Hawkes Bay. Barbara in her
evaluation commended Anna for her body language and sharing childhood
experiences.
Emmas' Ice Breaker was about
one of her favourite activities, swimming, entitled “Aquatic Adventures”. She has
swum in many places but the one that her evaluator, Helen, liked most was
sitting by a stream with feet dipped in the water feeling the shrimps nibbling
her toes. Helen recommended that Emma gesture more with her hands.
Graeme, our Toastmaster for the day ran an excellent truncated meeting well, allowing for the important items of two Ice Breakers and the presentation (and lunch)
Both speeches and evaluations
were so good the General Evaluator David was unable to come to a decision as to
which was the Best Speech and Evaluation. The Toastmaster was Graeme and we also
had a visitor, Kenneth, who does not appear unfamiliar to speaking before a
group. We hope to see him again.
Congratulations to Emma & Anna on their excellent Ice Breakers and to Noel for 25 years service to Pania Toastmasters.
We do it all again next week (sorry, without the lunch!)
