Our Thursday meeting was ably chaired by Cheryl who found herself in the
unenviable situation of a speaker pulling out and having to fill a fairly long
spot in the programme, however as we all knew she could/would Cheryl put
together an alternative programme at fairly short notice.
We welcomed back Russel and Jane , it was good to see them and we hope you
won't be strangers you two !
Peter Croskery our Area Director was in attendance , he presented an
interesting speech on the High Performance Leadership Book and encouraged us all
to have a look at it with (perhaps) a view to trying it ourselves. This is not
necessarily a toastmasters based programme, it promotes Leader ship in action
.So it may be something you could complete as part of your work or whilst
serving as a volunteer in some capacity. If you are interested to know more see
Graeme.
Thanks Peter.
Barbara , read one of her poems, fittingly this one was about her early
days as a Toastmaster , with her usual style she managed to convince us all that
its not that bad!Comforting to know that someone as accomplished as Barbara,
still gets nerves.
The rest of the programme fell to our competent Table Topics master who
carried the day with his Quotations, it was a great session Mike .If you were
not there , try to come , when Daryl tells us all the extended story of why he
is Daryl aka Darryl. Its worth a visit to hear it .
Linda was table topics evaluator and winner of the best evaluator
award.
Best Table Topic and Best Speaker went to Daryl aka Darryl.
Again thanks to Cheryl for her efforts and to Mike for spinning those table
topics out !
Thanks Jen for this report.
