"29th January 2016" was the intriguing title of Jeanette's Project 2 Speech assignment at today's Pania meeting. Then she asked "What will you be doing?" followed by four further questions, "will you be in the same job?" "in the same house?" in the same suburb or town?" "or at a Toastmaster's meeting?" well that sure got me thinking!
I was so busy trying to come up with some answers that I nearly missed what followed.
Well done Jeanette for giving such an excellent example on "How to Organise a Speech" Great!
The meeting was chaired by Graeme and a good response was had from members for attendance, Jeanette's speech was evaluated by Helen and she acknowledged the effort put in by Jeanette, especially how easy the speech was to follow and understand. Comments regarding speech rate and use of pause, would certainly help Jeanette in future assignments. Very good advice.
Jen gave a speech from the Special Occasion Speeches Manual, this was regard to presenting an award. Darryl suddenly became the centre of attention receiving the Award with some dignity. Thank you Jen for a thought provoking presentation.
David, in his Evaluation provided some helpful comments giving both praise and suggestions for improvement.
Carol ran the Table Topics session and she asked those taking part to use emotion based on what was said to them. for instance Barbara was told she was 'quite upset and felt sad because' and responded very well and quickly found something to talk about and at the same time showed that she was both upset and sad. Mike 'had an altercation and was angry', he started off very strongly and was halfway through timewise when he suddenly thought of a subject and after that there was no stopping him- warning never upset Mike if you see him out driving!!
David's grand daughter 'made him laugh' and while he never really told us what his gran daughter said to him to make him laugh it was very interesting.
Chery's son told her 'he was in a situation- the police were involved-she was so disappointed!', this was difficult for Cheryl in that her natural reaction was it's the other person's fault and her son could not possibly do 'something like that!'
A good session Carol-thoroughly enjoyed by all (even those that had to speak!) Congratulations!
general Evaluator Mike, gave an overview of the whole meeting showing his skills and ability with regard to what he saw and heard. Good positive comments of value to everyone, especially as Mike stepped into the role at the last minute-thank you very much.
darryl agev a very good Timekeper's report and it was good to be reminded 'keeping to time is important'-thanks Darryl.
Barbara evaluated Table Topics in her usual positive manner and everyone should have benefitted from what Barbara had observed, your efforts were much appreciated.
Best Speaker; Jeanette
Best Evaluator; Helen
Best Table Topics; Mike.
