GE’s Report for Thursday the 12th of March
-
Short and sharp with elbow bumps
·
A fast efficient, meeting, Paula as
Toastmaster set the scene –putting the agenda on recycled paper and she laid
down the ‘challenge to do the right thing’ in terms of being environmentally
friendly. She suggested cutting out handshaking was appropriate at the moment
and introduced the elbow bump which continued throughout.
·
Laurel read the
mission statement with vigour, great modulation and clarity.
·
Craig’s
introduction of Hannah’s icebreaker, ’Life’s adventures’ was warm and
welcoming. ‘She impressed me with her confidence’. He summarised his
evaluation effectively, after giving great feedback on pause and suggesting Hannah slow down her speech rate.It was an excellent Ice Breaker though, congratulations Hannah!
·
Mehran was thrown
in the deep end with evaluating Peter who has been in Toastmasters for over 40
years and has run a professional speaking course for many years. He was very
positive and shared that it was hard for him to find a recommendation – perhaps
Peter could open up to bigger gestures and smile more often.
·
Sahar’s table
topic focused on a time machine – at the ideal age people would like to go back
to. This brought up many creative ideas and stories for the eight people who
took part as there was more time at the end of the meeting for more to have a
go. Sahar has mastered the art of smiling and has a warm and engaging style.
She put on the board different ages and asked the audience to talk to them. She
could have given a specific time to each participant to make it more
challenging. But it was a topic that allowed everyone to talk easily
too.
·
Lou as the table
topics evaluator, gave specific feedback, was short and sharp and used humour
well.
* Anna summarised the meeting extremely well as General Evaluator and Paula, who had run the meeting very succesfully and in plenty of time, allowed us some extra Table Topics, so everybody had the opportunity to speak!
Well done everyone involved!!(ED)
Best evaluator - Lou
