Imagine
having two speeches!
We
also had a grammarian. Anna challenged us to use the word "vulnerable." Thanks
Anna it proved to be a very popular word.
But
lets get back to the two speeches! One of them was titled "Having fun along the
way" and the other "Climate reality"
Wow!
The
first one was a chance for Pedro to shine. This was his first speech to us.
Well done Pedro!
We
call it the Ice Breaker. Laurel his evaluator set the scene by giving us a
background as to the speech requirements so we could tune in on what was to
follow. Great speech Pedro. What an interesting man and so enthusiastic.
Learned he was from Brazil. What a place that must be! His
trip
around the world was full of surprises as was his job. We certainly appreciated
your efforts! Later on Laurel evaluated Pedro. She gave him praise regarding
speech rate, vocal variety and eye contact. Laurel also suggested ways in which
he could improve. Pania is fortunate to have people like Laurel to help guide
people like Pedro through his time with us.
Our
second speaker was Benita. Julie her evaluator explained Benita's background by
mentioning previous evaluators and what they had to say. The speech itself
"Climate reality" was not only very meaningful but it was also something that
may affect each and everyone of us. Benita's facts, figures, examples were
impressive and so was her presentation skills. Julie's evaluation was full of
praise but she did suggest Benita slow down a little more.
Sandy
was our table topic master. This time it was different!
Usually
people taking part only have one choice. Today they had three!
People
were asked to choose either a playing card which had either a Club,Heart etc colour or number on it.
Paula
chose a number. She chose six. Possible error in that she suddenly remembered
her Australian background. Great recovery and ended on a positive note. Well
done!
Michael
chose King of hearts. Talked about fruit orchard. Having a girl friend.
Besotted by a new arrival in the orchard. Name Wendy. Lost girl friend. Said
Wendy asked him if he would be her King of hearts. Believable?
Sahar
chose a card. Said gambling was illegal where she use to live. Sahar's openess
and honesty came through very strongly. Nice touch.
Craig
told us he had chosen the Joker. Did he make that up? We will never know.
Certainly introduced considerable humour.
Lou
was the Table Topic evaluator. Excellent feedback to all those taking part.
Experience showed.
Thank
you Lou. Very good standard as always.
Leigh
was our timekeeper. Her report was clear, concise, complete. Thank you.
Graeme
provided feedback in his role as general evaluator.
Anna
summed up her involvement as Grammarian. Appreciate knowledge.
Patrick
concluded the meeting in the same way as he started - brilliant!
