Pania Toastmasters Meeting 7th of
March
‘It’s all a Half Baked
Huts-Pot!’
Read on for more…
Carol as Toastmaster looked gorgeous in
pink.
She started with a ‘bang’ and was’ uplifting and relaxing’ for
International Women’s Day. She wove this theme throughout - gender equality and
pay parity, 66 million girls dreaming of school…
Laurel introduced Patrick with his level
two Motivational Pathways speech - ‘Understanding your Communication Style and
the impact of your style on others.’
Patrick had a great hook, was well organised, involved us with
figures and related it back to his Dutch Heritage – ‘huts-pot’. ‘It’s all a
half-baked hodge podge’ - he told us his communication style a mishmash or a
huts-pot. He is stronger in ‘analytical’ but in another test his style was said
to be a ‘direct’, or a ‘driver’ instead.
He discussed these communication styles –
Analytical - analyser
Supportive -socialiser
Initiating – expressive – relator
Direct – driver – director
Which are you?
Patrick asked the audience – how many knew about these styles only
30% of us did as opposed to an average of 67% Toastmasters – according to the
website.
Paula introduced Marc.
She was welcoming and genuine and specific in her
feedback.
Marc made the AGM sound very exciting –
he was persuasive and made an impassioned plea for members to get involved with
the executive. He challenged us to ask about roles and to ‘make Pania stronger
again.’
Darryl as the Table Topic Master, took us
on a journey, with topics as travel tips,
Mike was very adamant, great use of
hands, gesture, voice, he would completely overpack and be an extravagant
packer.
Graeme’s secret to long distant flying is
rather simple, he is terrified of flying and would rather drive to Riverton to
see his sister than fly.
Heather – with ‘how adventurous am I?’
She was very and in Dubai, while she had no dried sheep eyes, she ate snake,
water buffalo and crocodile!
Patrick - with ‘tips to remember travel,
he hated holiday pictures until he got married, as he was never in them, now
he digitally categorises his holidays snaps and now is in love with them
too!
Jenny did Table Topics for her first time
and won the award for Best Evaluator, she was very warm, detailed and it was
very well done.
Laurel was presented with her Dynamic
Leadership certificate,
Craig presented certificates for the
recent Evaluation Contest – Marc, Anna, Paula, and Patrick.
Anna presented an excellent general Evaluator's report on the meeting assisted by the Timekeeper, Craig, and we finished on time!(ED)
Don’t forget the International Speech Contest is next
week!
