Well what a great meeting we had
at Pania Toastmasters on Thursday 23August! Lou our first time Toastmaster
started exactly on time at 12.05 and did her chairperson role very well indeed.
Our two speakers had rather intriguing speech titles "Desert mountains and join
toastmasters". Read more.
Linda our first speaker was
introduced by Sandy. Her speech was called "Mountains to desert". Sandy gave us
an interesting back ground about Linda as well as something about the speech
itself which helped set the scene very clearly. Linda's knowledge about Iran
was superb. Statistics such as 82 million people, 600 dams, 5 centimetres of
rainfall per year was mind boggling. Great speech Linda - experience showed
through. Spoke with conviction
Sandy's evaluation was well
balanced in that Linda received more praise than suggestions for improvement.
Sandy was also impressed with Linda's use of statistics and her ability to use
both white board and television as a means to convey her message. Well done
Sandy.
Paula was our second speaker with
a speech titled "Why I chose Toastmasters" Paula was introduced by Jen. Jen
gave a warm, friendly introduction which led into the speech in a nice positive
way. Paula has many skills and these came through during this, her second speech. Aspects such as eye contact, clarity of voice, composure, speech rate
were very good. Paula has aspirations and those were shared with the audience.
Thank you Paula. We appreiciate your thoughts.
Jen's evaluation would have been
of great value to Paula. Pania is fortunate to have people like Jen. The feed
back was clear, concise, complete. Thanks. I would like to add that some of
the things Paula aspires to were already in evidence during her speech
today.
Table topics with Darryl was a
magnificent! It sure made everyone think.
Paula - What sort of noise should
an electric car make?
Graeme - What is your fastest
ever speed?
Jen - What would you put in
space?
Patrick - Would you go to
Mars?
Lou - Do you find it difficult
parking a car?
Craig evaluated table topic
speakers and gave suggestions to all those taking part.
Not all that easy to do. Thanks
Craig for your feedback.
Graeme wound up the meeting with an excellent and very full General Evaluation as time permitted, giving good feedback to every one that spoke. Patrick completed the timing with a brief report.(Ed)
