These were the topics of the two speeches we had today at Pania Toastmaster's weekly meeting, extremely well organised and run by Israel, with his first time as Toastmaster of the day. He had an excellent program, which ran to time and his enthusiasm and comments kept the audience well involved.
We had three guests today, Brooke, Louise and Jessie and I am sure that they enjoyed the meeting and what transpired, hopefully we will see them back next week!
First item on the agenda after Michael gave a great rendition of the Mission Statement was a prepared speech by Sahar, from the Pathways Education program, it was entitled "Asset Management" and area in which Sahar is fully involved.Marc introduced Sahar and pointed out that in this assignment Sahar was to look at improving some of the areas pointed out be her last speech evaluator. Sahar certainly managed this with great use of pause and slowing down her speaking rate, while entertaining and educating us with regard to "Managing our Assets". She used an excellent technique in asking questions of the audience regarding care of their assets and then consolidating her ideas into the importance of looking after them.
Marc gave a very comprehensive and positive evaluation with many commendations and was also able to suggest a couple of areas that perhaps Sahar could think about improving on next speech.
Next up Laurel introduced our second speaker Jenni with her speech intriguingly entitled "Diversity & Inclusion", again Jenni was working from the second of the Evaluation assignments where she is looking to improve on items mentioned by her previous Evaluator, if she felt they were appropriate!
Once again this was well achieved by Jenni utilising more Vocal Variety and pauses and 'owning the floor' with an excellent presentation that told us how she has experienced things in her life that encouraged her to take a role of the representative at her work place for the 'Diversity & Inclusion' committee. This was after she had explained the important role of the committee and the advantages to all in her workplace. A very honest and sincere presentation, with a great deal of personal interest, well done Jenni and to Laurel for her excellent Evalution, even though she had some hearing problems of her own making!
Table Topics was next (an impromptu speaking exercise) well run by Paula who adopted the role of a Fairy Godmother( with tiara and magic wand), who could grant any wishes and therefore members were asked Jen- "money is no object what would you do with it all?" Jen has spent many years with her hubby in Red Cross overseas and has seen a great deal of hardship with her own eyes- so that;s where her unlimited resources are going!
Tamara- "calories are not going to effect you so what would you eat and where?" Tamara loves food and is going to travel the world (particularly France and all the Pastries, England and the Pub food etc) and it will not effect her or young Theo- her quote "we are what we eat!"
Our guest Brooke (who had been asked before if he would like a Table Topic) then again had the money one- and he was going to continually travel the World spending months at a time in one place before moving on- what a life as a nomad!! Great answer Brooke!
During the business session our latest member Mehran was inducted into the Club, welcome Mehran, we look forward to your Ice Breaker.
Table Topics were evaluated by Patrick in his usual enthusiastic and humorous manner and he was able to give some commendations and suggestions to each speaker.
The meeting was concluded with the General Evaluation by Craig assisted by the Timekeeper, Mehran and presentation of the Awards.
Best Table Topic; Brooke
Best Evaluator; Laurel
Best Speaker Jenni
We do it all again next week when the Toastmaster is Sahar, come along!!
