'WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE LEADING THE WAY!"

This was the title of the speech today at Pania's meeting by Laurence, the presentation was from the 'Storytelling Manual' ,Project 5 "Bringing History to Life" and what a speech it was!

Laurence gave us an insight as to women receiving the vote here in New Zealand, equally important were the efforts that made it happen. Laurence used statistics to very good effect such as from initially 9000 women registering to 32,000 in a very short space of time.A captivating talk, well structured along with a very high standard of presentation. Congratulations Laurence.

Graeme in his evaluation of Laurence gave him lots of well deserved praise together with three suggestions for improvement which would be of help as Laurence continues to impress with his presentations.

Toastmaster of the day was Jen and she chose a theme for the meeting and most of the conversations revolved around that theme which was 'Anzac Day'. There were many poignant moments during our 50 minute meeting and it is good to be reminded of these special times, particularly with the 100 years.
Helen presented a reading from a book titled "Poems from the Desert" some 28 of them and the one that was chosen was a timely reminder to us all, personally I was left feeling grateful for those unsung heroes and the sacrifices they had made. Thank you Helen.

Wendy, presented Table Topics and asked thought provoking questions relating to Anzac Day. While this may sound like an 'over kill' it was interesting to note how uplifting the replies were, well done everyone! Sure we had some lighthearted moments, but it was nice that members appreciated the importance of this coming Saturday.

Cheryl evaluated Table Topics and impressed with her in depth response to what she saw and heard in Table Topics, great feedback to all those taking part and it is great to see how comfortable Cheryl has become over the past few months- truly a Competent Toastmaster!

General Evaluator , David gave a summary of the meeting, commented on the high standard and was most encouraging.

Another very good meeting with special praise to Jen for her significant contribution both in terms of the theme and the programme.

Best Speaker; Laurence
Best Evaluator;  Graeme
Best Table Topics; Mike.

Thanks Graeme for this report, we will do all again next Thursday, 12.10pm.
